EQUITY IN THEATRE (EIT) has wrapped up its activities for the time being.
Having completed the four-pronged goals it set for 2014 - 2016, EIT has now disbanded. However, its partner organizations are moving forward with equity initiatives of their own in 2017 and 2018, so the work continues!
EIT and its Steering Committee partners have embarked on a mail-out campaign to raise awareness and disseminate information that will help create impactful and permanent change in the theatre sector.
Ruby Slippers Theatre and Equity in Theatre have partnered with the Fringe to showcase dramatic readings of five new plays by Canadian women playwrights. According to a national study, women account for less than a third of artistic directors, working directors, and produced playwrights in professional Canadian theatre. Hence, Advance Theatre!
