WOMANHOOD: A night of performances about female identities, Independent

The organizers fell in love with Tom Coash's play RAGHEAD immediately upon seeing it at the 2015 inspiraTO theatre festival and knew right away they needed to put it on stage again.
 
RAGHEAD is about a young woman who experiences Islamaphobia in post 9/11 New York City.

Groundswell Unplugged

Groundswell Unplugged–a fertile environment for new works by female playwrights to take root. From October 29th to November 1st join us at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre to be the premiere audience for brand new Canadian plays.

NAKED HEART – The LGBTQ Festival of Words

Glad Day Bookshop is thrilled to present the first year of NAKED HEART – The LGBTQ Festival of Words. Our vision for NAKED HEART is to establish a yearly Canadian LGBTQ literary festival that amplifies love, language & freedom.

This year, over 75 authors are presenting over 40 panels, workshops and readings during the weekend of October 16th, 17th and 18th. NAKED HEART takes place at four sites in the Church & Wellesley village of Toronto.

Better Angels: A Parable by Andrea Scott

What do you do when you are trapped but can simply walk out the door? Akosua is a young woman who moves to Canada from Ghana to work for Leila and Greg Tate as a nanny/housekeeper in their beautiful Toronto home. Leila tries to start and complete the novel she’s always wanted to write while her husband continues to work overtime for his demanding boss. Lonely, but determined to finish what she started, Leila tries to befriend her new domestic and arrives at a novel idea derived from Akosua’s stories of her homeland.
