Welcome to Equity in Theatre

WOMANHOOD: A night of performances about female identities, Independent

The organizers fell in love with Tom Coash's play RAGHEAD immediately upon seeing it at the 2015 inspiraTO theatre festival and knew right away they needed to put it on stage again.

RAGHEAD is about a young woman who experiences Islamaphobia in post 9/11 New York City. Two more plays, THE SESSION by Jane Smythe which follows the story of two young women who are survivors of sexual abuse and a segment from BOTCHED by Colleen Osborn takes a look at the life of Julie- a young woman who recently had an abortion and her thoughts following the procedure, were promptly added to round out the night, providing a kaleidoscope of female identities.

All proceeds of this event will go to The Redwood Women's Shelter, a safe haven for women and children in Toronto. The Redwood operates within an anti-racist oppressive framework and are committed to social change through education and action.
