Yolanda is a freelance director/theatre maker, and the full-time Producer at Torontos Theatre Gargantua. Prior to moving to Toronto in 2013, she was based in the UK where she worked in contemporary theatre and earned an MFA in Theatre Directing from Londons East 15 Acting School.
Credits include: performing two of her original works at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, assistant director/dramaturge on the UK premiere of Scorched at the Old Vic Tunnels (Old Vic-Dialogue Productions), and directing the North American premier of S-27 (Intersection Theatre/Toronto Fringe). As artistic associate of the London Quebec Culture Festival Yolanda was involved in the promotion of Canadian works internationally and directed the UK premiere of Larry Tremblays The Ventriloquist (Rosemary Branch Theatre) and translated David Paquettes Porcupine. Yolanda has also taught Shakespeare in Italy and speaks French and Italian.
In Toronto she has worked with Tarragon Theatre and Driftwood Theatre and produced Gargantuas work at Theatre Passe Muraille, Factory Theatre, the SummerWorks Festival, and in a tree in Trinity Bellwoods Park. She is also a contributing author of New Dramaturgies: International Perspectives on Theory and Practice, published in 2014 by Methuen Drama.
