Vanessa is a director based in Calgary. She has been Artistic Director at Alberta Theatre Projects since 2009. Directing work includes Cockroach (upcoming), Charlotte's Web (ATP), Christina The Girl King (Stratford Festival), The Red Priest (Eight Ways to Say Goodbye), You Will Remember Me, Red, Heartbreaker, The Syringa Tree, Why Freud Fainted, Plan B, Respectable, The Hobbit, and Proof (all ATP). Vanessa directed The Penelopiad for ATP & Arts Club, When That I Was for The Shakespeare Company, Syringa Tree for 1000 Islands Playhouse, Queen Lear and Helen's Necklace for Urban Curvz Theatre, Snake In The Grass for Vertigo Theatre, and The Erotic Anguish of Don Juan and Pinocchio with The Old Trout Puppet Workshop and ATP. She directed The Enchanted Child, La Divina, and Le Portrait de Manon with Calgary Opera Emerging Artists Ensemble. She has been awarded the Betty Mitchell Award for Outstanding Direction twice. She is bilingual in English and French, and is a member of CAEA and LMDA.
