Lieske, Val

Biography: 

Val is the founder and Artistic Director of Fire Exit Theatre, a thaetre company interested in Hope, Challenge, Change (www.fireexit.ca). She has a BA in Theatre & Speech from Trinity Guild (UK) and has studied playwriting under Clem Martini, Lucia Frangione, and Trevor Rueger. Val worked for 10 years with the Alberta Playwrights' Network and for three years as the Associate Chair of theatre@rocky. She works in Creative Communications at Centre Street Church and as an adjunct instructor with Alberta Bible College. Past directing credits include God’s Man in Texas, This Waking Moment, God’s Favorite, Holy Mo & Spew Boy (Fire Exit Theatre) and Assistant Director Evelyn Strange (Vertigo Theatre). Select plays she’s written include Duty to Warn, Coffee Talk, God’s Attention and the award winning Absence. She also co-wrote the book "Crossroads Cafe: Break Free From the Daily Grind". Val is also a public speaker and spoken word artist.
