Pura, Talia

Biography: 

Talia Pura has had many plays performed and several plays published; Delivery, with Blizzard Publishing, Paul and Ruth, in the Manitoba Writers' Guild Anthology and The Strawberry Monologue, in Monologues for Women, by Women, with Heinemann Press, in Chicago. CBC Radio commissioned, Hillary. Her resource book, Stages: Creative Ideas for teaching Drama, published by Schillingford Press is now in its sixth printing and selling well throughout North America.
Talia teaches drama and theatre production at the University of Winnipeg. She has been an actor and dancer for many years, appearing on stage and in films, such as her supporting lead role in Guy Maddin's Saddest Music in the World. Her latest passion is aerial dance, which she recently incorporated into her one woman play, Metamorphosis, a five star hit at the 2007 Winnipeg Fringe Festival. She also used aerial 'silks' in her role of Puck, in A Midsummer Night's Dream, for Shakespeare in the Ruins, in the spring of 2007. Most recently, she has become a film maker, shooting her short screenplay, Collections.
