Originally from Montreal, Valerie is a recent MFA graduate of the University of Alberta as well as a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada. She is an award winning actor, a director and an instructor with over 30 years experience on Stage and in Film and Television. Her credits as a Director include Canadian Premiers such as Annie Bakers Body Awareness for Shadow Theatre, Edward Albees Homelife for Aboriginal Arts , Blood: A Scientific Romance by Meg Braem for Sage Theatre (World Premiere), and Ruined, by L.ynn Nottage for Ellipsis Tree Collective. Her production of Thy Neighbors Wife by Tara Beagan for Urban Curvz Theatre garnered a Betty Mitchell Award nomination for Best Production. As an actor, Valerie has performed across Canada and in the US, garnering awards such as an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award for Little Elephants with Shadow Theatre, Betty Mitchell Awards for Communion and The Good Life, as well as nominations for Music for Contortionists, Elizabeth Rex, The Constant Wife, Perfect Pie. In 2014 Valerie was awarded the Alberta Graduate Teaching Award from the University of Alberta.
