Sky, Sheila

Biography: 

Sheila has been active in the Toronto’s vibrant performing arts community since the mid-80’s coordinating a broad array of performance projects including major musical theatre works for Bradley/Francis Production, Brian MacDonald Productions and Ron Francis Theatrical Management and touring in North American and Europe for Mirvish Productions, Continuum Contemporary Music and the Esprit and SMCQ Orchestras. Since founding Sky Arts Management she has undertaken management, strategic and logistical planning, marketing, publicity and fundraising for multidisciplinary company Theatre Gargantua, South Asian theatre company Rasik Arts, a one-woman cross Canada tour for comedienne Christal Bartelse and the extreme outdoor operas of R Murray Shafer for Patria Music Theatre Productions and the brother and sister duo Puppetmongers. She also is currently the Executive Director of Associated Designers of Canada.  Sheila holds an Honours BA in French & Dramatic Literature, as well as a Masters from the Graduate Centre for the Study of Drama at the University of Toronto and was awarded a full scholarship to the World Shakespeare Institute in Stratford, England. Sheila also participated in the MaRS Centre program for Social Entrepreneurship and the inaugural Lean Arts program investigating de-risking tactics for new artistic ventures. Her current fascination is researching “durability practices” for arts organizations facing seismic upheaval.
