Marcia trained as an actor at the Drama Centre and began her career at the Royal Court Theatre in London, England.  Her first foray into playwriting was in the early 1990’s with the highly successful farce WHO’S UNDER WHERE? co-written with Doug Hughes. It was published by Samuel French Inc. and has now been translated into five languages and received more than one hundred productions around the world. Also in partnership with Mr. Hughes, she penned the popular whodunnit  A PARTY TO MURDER  and a period comedy entitled TOO MANY COOKS--also published by Samuel French. Working solo, Marcia was commissioned to write DISCOVERING ELVIS for Lunchbox Theatre in Calgary in 1997. It has been widely produced throughout Canada and the U.S.  It was translated into French in 2000 (A LA RECHERCHE D’ELVIS) and has enjoyed numerous productions throughout Quebec including Montreal, Quebec City and a provincial tour. In 2011 her drama FOR THIS MOMENT ALONE received its premiere at Theatre Aquarius. It was originally commissioned by CBC Radio under the title THICKER THAN WATER and aired on Sunday Showcase in 1998. Marcia has also written a number of jukebox musicals including TOP OF THE POPS and POODLE SKIRTS TO PLATFORM SHOES. She and longtime collaborator Doug Hughes have completed another comedy entitled JACK OF DIAMONDS, which will be premiering in 2015.  They recently won the 2014 Tom Hendry Award for Best Comedy for their new farce SOMETHING FISHY.  In addition to writing and acting, she is also an accomplished director.
