Phokeev, Polly

Biography: 

Polly Phokeev is a Toronto-based actor, playwright, and theatre-maker. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Arts with high distinction, earning the highest cumulative GPA of her year as a specialist in drama through the UCDP, for which she received the John Wolfe McColl Memorial Award. She is currently working towards her Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (Optional Residency) at the University of British Columbia. Polly has studied clowning with John Turner at the Manitoulin Conservatory for Creation and Performance, and is a certified Intermediate Actor Combatant with Fight Directors Canada. Selected acting credits: Mankind and Pride of Life (Poculi Ludique Societas), The Tempest (Hart House), Much Ado about Nothing (Single Thread Theatre Company), The Loyalists (Single Thread Theatre Company).

In 2015, Polly workshopped her play Seams with director/developer Mikaela Davies at the Paprika Festival, starring Nancy Palk, and at the Summerworks Festival, starring Clare Coulter (*NOW Magazine: Outstanding Direction, Outstanding New Play, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Design, Outstanding Ensemble). Recently Polly wrote and co-developed a site specific play, How We Are, with director Mikaela Davies, to a sold out run. She is currently developing How We Are with Davies into a three part series that takes place in site specific locations across the city.

In summer 2016, Polly toured the UK with company Poculi Ludique Societas as an actor in two medieval plays, Mankind and Pride of Life.
