Pippa Mackie is a Vancouver based actor & playwright. She is an acting graduate at the National Theatre School of Canada. As a writer: Pippa is the co-writer/performer with Emmelia Gordon of the 5 star Fringe show the Progressive Polygamists which has toured all over Canada, including Montreals Just For Laughs festival and will be performed at the Cultch Mainstage for the Up in the Air's 'Revolver Festival' this May 2015. Most recently, she co-wrote, starred, produced and created the show Industry: the Food Must Go Out which earned rave reviews and won the Vancouver Fringe Award for Innovation. She is currently in the development stage, with the guidance of producer/show-runner Ben Burden Smith, of a quirky sci-fi fantasy TV show called Nine Gates and it co-writing a web series with Rachel Cairns about Rachel's days as a shoe shiner in Toronto. She is the co-producer of the 4th Annual Pull Festival ( a local 10 minute play festival in Vancouver) where she has had 4 plays produced: Protest Pie, Ketchup, and Bait (for which her script has be en commissioned for a feature length film with Sociable Films, now titled Truance.) This year the Pull Festival features her play Deer Harper, the comedic true love story between Prime Minister Stephen Harper and a deer. Upcoming shows: watch for her and Jeff Gladstones play reading series Lost For Words monthly at the Emerald where they read plays that have been banned, burned or demonized. She is also in Tracey Power and Steve Charles new musical Miss Shakespeare, which runs in rep with Julius Caesar at Performance Works in April directed by James Macdonald. Watch for her in Showtime's pilot 'Roadies' , co-produced by J.J. Abrams and written and directed by Cameron Crowe.
