Biography: 

Joanne Miller is a writer, actor and comedienne whose work has appeared on stage, screen and radio.  Her play, Cradle and All, sold out Neptune Theatre in Halifax in February, 2014.  In the summer of 2015, her play, Habit of Murder, sold out Ship’s Company Theatre. In 2014, her sit com, Dear Stella, was voted top 30 in CBC’s Comedy Coup pitch contest. In June of 2016, she unveiled her newest play, a Christmas Musical called SNOW GLOBE, at Eastern Front Theatre’s Stages Festival in partnership with Halifax Theatre for Young People. As an actor, she has worked across the country at the Stratford Festival, Theatre Passe Muraille, The Globe, Persephone, The Grand, Theatre New Brunswick, Neptune Theatre, Stephenville, Banff, Festival Antigonish, Mulgrave Road, Eastern Front as well as many others.   Her work has been recognized with nominations for two Merritt Awards and an Actra Award.  She played the lead on CBC’s popular series Backbencher, which won a New York Festivals award.   She also played the lead in the Gemini award-winning TV series Olliver's Adventures.  She has written numerous plays with Alive Theatre and comedy segments for CBC. You can watch her in her own created comedy works MJs Wall on Youtube. In 2016, Joanne created a one-woman comedy show entitled GOD MADE ME THIS WAY! Her TV credits include the role of Justina Epp on CBC’s new series PURE. She can also be seen on Haven, Mr. D, Seed, Call me Fitz and as a reoccurring sketch actor on TV with TV’s Jonathan Torrens.
