Biography: 

ANN-MARIE KERR

Ann-Marie is an award-winning theatre director, actor and teacher. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally including the Globe Theatre (Regina), Neptune Theatre (Halifax), Alberta Theatre Projects (Calgary), Festival TransAmériques (Montreal), Under the Radar (NYC), Magnetic North Theatre Festival (Canada), Soulpepper Theatre Company (Toronto), Luminato Festival (Toronto), Cork Midsummer Festival (Ireland), Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Sydney Festival (Australia), Carrefour international de theatre (Quebec City), Groundswell Festival (Toronto) and UNO Festival (Victoria, BC).

Recently she directed Loveplay (National Theatre School); a workshop performance of Adam Lazarus’ solo show Daughter (Quiptake) set to play in Toronto’s Summerworks 2016; The Circle (Alberta Theatre Projects); Cathy Jones’ solo show Stranger to Hard Work that is currently on tour; Cliff Cardinal’s The Anderson’s (National Theatre School); a workshop of Mass, a large-scale production with a 15-voice choir set in a church in collaboration with singer-songwriter Tanya Davis; The Circle (National Theatre School). Upcoming: and The Secret Lives of Mothers (Theatre Centre, Toronto with Hannah Moscovitch, Maev Beaty and Tova Smith); I Claudia Northern and Eastern Canada tour; Many Loves (Queer Acts Festival, Halifax), Fall Out (Willpower Theatre, Halifax).

Her teaching includes: National Theatre School (8 years), Soulpepper Theatre Company’s Academy and Youth Mentorship Program (5 years), Globe Theatre School, Acadia University, Dalhousie University, University of Toronto, National Arts Centre and George Brown College. She is a graduate of Ecole internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and York University in Toronto. She is the former Artistic Associate of Magnetic North Theatre Festival (4 years).
