Katherine Koller writes in many styles and genres. Her comedies, produced by CBC radio, at the Edmonton Fringe, Jagged Edge Lunchbox Theatre and Winnipegs FemFest, have been invited to the U.S. and U.K. Her full-length plays include The Seed Savers, collected in Voices of the Land: The Seed Savers and Other Plays (Athabasca University Press, 2012), Coal Valley: the Making of a Miner (in The Alberta Advantage,Playwrights Canada Press, 2008) and Last Chance Leduc, which won the 2013 Alberta Playwriting Competition and a reading at the Banff Centre. Queenies Castle is Katherines first play to betranslated, into Cree, by Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company in Saskatoon. Katherine also writes fiction, and for radio, film, ballet, dance and opera. Citie Ballet produced three of her story ballet libretti: Murder at the Strand (2011),Damsels of the Night (2012) and Ariadnes Gate (2013). Her documentary about Citie Ballet going professional, Taking Flight, is produced by Company of Women on the Screen for Telus Optik TV. Katherines work on her new play, Dirt Baby, recently took her to the Womens Work Festival in St. Johns, Newfoundland. She is developing a chamber opera libretto, Madonna of the Wilderness, a young adult novel, Art Lessons, and a feature film, Cowboy Boots and a Corsage. Katherine writes about her process in Making Myth on the Prairies in Canadian Theatre Review (Spring 2013), and teaches in the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta.
