Johanna Nutter is artistic director of creature/creature, a planetary performance unit looking for the strange in the familiar and the familiar in the strange. She is the playwright, translator and performer of my pregnant brother, a multiple award winning solo show that toured to theatres and festivals across Canada, in Scotland, England, France, and Belgium. With her brother James, she created the response piece my playwright sister and the full two-hour double bill premiered at the PIVOT Festival in Whitehorse in 2015. It will also take part in the 2017 edition of the High Performance Rodeo. Johanna is the founder and president of Espace Freestanding Room, a member-driven incubator on the Main now in its seventh year, and co-curator of Centaur Theatre’s Annual Wildside Festival. Recent roles of note include Margie Walsh in the Canadian première of Good People at Centaur (META nominee for best actress) and Claire in the French translation of David Greig’s The Events opposite Emmanuel Schwartz at La Licorne. In October 2016, she will direct Chlorine, her translation of Nicolas Michon and Florence Longpré’s beautiful play. She is a confirmed Montrealer who just bought a house in PEI.
