Michelle Righetti was born in Toronto, raised in Argentina and Canada, and is an alumna of the University of Toronto.
She works as an actor, operatic soprano, multi-instrumentalist, composer, poet, playwright, director and producer and works in theatre, opera, film and music.
Michelle specializes in collaborative interdisciplinary performance, and works with artists from many disciplines interested in discovering and exploring their own artistic voice and perspective through collaboration with contrasting practices or theories. This process is focused on challenging and learning from each individual perspective, through an intensive rehearsal process, and results in collaborative performances surrounding a given theme, topic or play.
She is the founder of the interdisciplinary production company Odd Opera (a company dedicated to her interdisciplinary method) and co-founder of Indelible Ink Films. She is the Librettist and Composer of the Opera Violetta, the performance series Never Odd Or Even, and has composed music for various theatrical performances including Warfare (for Danceworks), S-27 (perform at the Fringe Festival) and others.
Selected credits for stage (Actor, Musician, Performer) include: Tryptych Opera Company (seven seasons), Divadlo Ypsilon (Prague), Il Teatro Nazionale D'ltalia, Dancemakers Theatre, Hysteria Women in Arts Festival (Buddies in Bad Times), The Gladstone Ballroom, and The Cameron House. She has also produced, directed, and performed in various short film projects and music videos.
