Hutsell-Manning, Linda

Biography: 

Linda Hutsell-Manning, a Playwrights Guild of Canada member since 1982,  has given play readings and workshops in many Canadian schools and libraries.  In 1998, she travelled to Coburg, Germany and Luxembourg to read and promote her work.  She has taught Playwriting for the Continuing Education Department of Loyalist college, Belleville, ON and for Seneca College, Toronto, ON. In 2003, her juvenile play Merch the Invisible Wizard was produced by Canterbury Performing Arts High School, in Ottawa, Canada.   She has recently completed a two act comedy, A Certain Singing Teacher and a children’s play, Donuts in four Four Time, music and lyrics by Don Herbertson. Theatre: “Agnes” in Going it Alone, Plays by Women for Solo Performers, Nuage Editions 1997 (monologue); Wolfcall, one act play, workshopped at Solar Stage, Toronto, Canada, Director Marianne McIsaac 1993. Juvenile Drama & TV: Marcie Saves the Circus winner 2000 Maxim Mazumdar New Play Comp, Alleyway Theatre, Buffalo, NY; The Great Zanderthon Takeover, PUC, 1984, copyscript 1990; Merch the Invisible Wizard, PUC, Canada,1983, copyscript 1990; Freddykid and Seagull Sam, PUC, Canada, 1982, copyscript 2001; Five scripts for TVOntario’s Polka Dot Door aired from 1981 to 1993. Other Writing: Linda Hutsell-Manning's thirty-five year writing career includes juvenile fiction, three juvenile plays, an award-winning juvenile play, poetry & short fiction in Canadian Literary mags and  five TV scripts with TVO. She has worked as a freelance journalist, taught creative writing at several community colleges, hosted author reading series and promoted her work internationally. Her most recent novel, That Summer in Franklin, was published by Second Story Press, TO, 201l. She is currently working on a sequel, working title, The Tangling of  Years.
