Biography:
Maja Ardal was born in Siglufjordur in the north of Iceland in 1949. She received her education in Edinburgh Scotland, and studied drama at the Royal Scottish Academy in Glasgow. She came to Canada in 1970 and acted with Toronto Workshop Productions in 10 plays. She regards George Luscombe as her first mentor. Maja was Artistic Director of Young People's Theatre from 1990 to 1998. A translation of Midnight Sun was produced in Akureyri Iceland in the spring of 2001. Maja wrote the book for the musical Joy with composer Joey Miller. It was produced at the Workman Theatre in October 2000.
