Smith, Deborah Ann

Biography: 

Deborah Smith is a writer, teacher and actor. Recent adaptations include "Echoes of the War" by J.M Barrie and "Creditors" by August Strindberg both produced in Chicago, Illinois. Deborah has also written 2 full length plays: "The Quarter Master" set in WW2 England and "Grace Speaks Out" a comedy about being graceful. Deborah has performed in films, television, industrial videos, voice overs and worked at major theatres including Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Victory Gardens, Northlight, A Red Orchid, The Gift Theatre, The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, Rendition Theatre, Bailiwick Theatre, Scaramouche Toronto and others. Deborah is on the artistic advisory of Artistic New Directions in New York. In teaching, Deborah focuses on teaching students to respect the craft of acting and their journey within actors training, and honour their own unique artistry and contributions. Deborah graduated from Th e London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts post graduate program in London England after completing her Bachelors of Arts in English Literature and Theatre. She has worked as a teacher in Chicago for 6 years. She was the original founder and Artistic Director of The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival in Prescott Ontario.
