Bronwyn Steinberg is the Artistic Director and Series Curator for TACTICS, Ottawa’s innovative independent theatre series in residence at Arts Court Theatre. She also founded her own company, Counterpoint Players, to create productions that push traditional theatrical boundaries to create a direct and embodied experience for the audience. As a participant in the Michael Langham Workshop for Classical Direction at the Stratford Festival, she was the assistant director for Hamlet in 2015 and will assist on Breath of Kings: Rebellion in 2016. She holds an MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of Ottawa, where she staged Sharon Pollock’s Blood Relations for her thesis production, and she has also trained in original theatre creation with One Yellow Rabbit. Directing credits include the world premiere of Corpus with her own Counterpoint Players at Arts Court Theatre, Marion Bridge (Three Sisters Theatre Company), In the Next Room or the vibrator play at the Gladstone (Prix Rideau Award nomination for Outstanding Direction and winner for Outstanding Production), and My Name is Asher Lev (9th Hour). Next up, she returns to the Gladstone with Three Sisters Theatre Company directing their production of Anton in Show Business.
