O'Toole, Bet

Biography: 

Bet O'Toole is an actor/playwright from Saint John, N.B. She was active in New City Theatre as an actor and co-writer for the Comedy Troupe The Casuals. She co-wrote and participated in The Great Summer Debatesfor C.B.C. Radio, and acted in one of C.B.C. Television's Heritage Moments. She currently is an active member of Saint John Theatre Company, having had 6 of her One Act Plays chosen through N.B. and Atlantic Competitions to be produced by the S.J.T.C. Second Stage, with "The Witness" (2009) and "The Knitting Cycle" (2010) performed in SJTC's Theatre on the Edge Summer Festival. Her proudest achievement came when her full length play "Lily's Song" was performed at the Saint John Imperial Theatre in 2005 and 2008. Inspired by her mother's courageous battle with Alzheimers, Bet had the honour of playing the older version of her mother. Her full length play "The Land of Beauty" (2011) won an Honourable Mention in the N.S. Writer's Federation Competition"s Unpublished Play Category, and in 2014 her One Act play "Innocence Lost" was runnerup in NoTable Acts Playwriting Competition.
