Theatre Passe Muraille and Equity in Theatre - EIT Talkback Series presents: "The Accent Barrier"
Theatre Passe Muraille has partnered with Equity in Theatre for a Talkback Series on equity and diversity issues in Canadian theatre. The first Talkback session will focus on TPM's production of Alien Creature and the stigma that exists towards actors and plays with accents.
Alien Creature, written by Linda Griffiths, takes a look at the life of late Canadian poet Gwendolyn MacEwan, who is portrayed by Colombian-born actor Beatriz Pizano.
Join our conversation following the matinee performance of Alien Creature on Sunday, January 29th to discuss inclusion in the Toronto theatre scene through the lens of cultural specificity, and what it is that can be done to help breakdown "the accent barrier" in Canadian theatre.
