We will be bringing together people across the continent who are working on Gender Parity in Theatre. Although there have been a number of summits, forums, panels, and festivals this year, this one will be continuing the efforts we began last spring in Toronto to be more aware and supportive of each other, and to discover where and how best to replicate, coordinate, and consolidate efforts, including how and where local efforts--and how and where (inter)national efforts--can be used to greatest effect to get to the tipping point where these efforts are no longer necessary, because there is a real diversity of opportunity at every level of production: 50/50 by 2020!
Here is the plan for the day (locations below):
10:00am-1:00pm
Session 1 - Introductions and Results of Current Efforts (with Brainstorming)
Each person introduces their efforts and the efforts they've been involved with
Including key objectives--locally and nationally
And actual results--positive and negative, intended and unintended
1:00-2:00 Lunch
2:30pm-5:30pm
Session 2
Explore in greater depth how best efforts and greatest effects can be expanded on--locally and nationally.
What will move it forward the fastest and to the greatest degree--where do we need repetition and replication? where do we need better coordination? where do we need consolidation?
4:30-5:30
We will draw some conclusions, make some decisions for further action, and decide who will be presenting in the evening Public Forum
5:30-7:30 Dinner Break
7:30-9:30
Public Forum on Percolating Gender Parity in Theatre
Introductions & Short Presentations of Best Efforts and Largest Effects & Future Recommendations
Q&A
Followed by getting people engaged and signed up to become involved with different efforts
This public forum will be livestreamed on HowlRound. There will also be a week-long Series on Gender Parity that week on HowlRound with essays and blog posts by some of our participants, curated by Shellen.
