Emotional Creature: The Secret Lives Of Girls Around The World

One Billion Rising Toronto, with the generous support of Young People's Theatre and Children's Peace Theatre, is pleased to present the return of EMOTIONAL CREATURE by Eve Ensler, in a new production directed by Tanisha Taitt.

The play is based on Ensler's bestselling book I Am An EMOTIONAL CREATURE: The Secret Lives Of Girls Around The World, a moving work inspired by frank conversations with teenaged girls around the globe. EMOTIONAL CREATURE is a bold, funny and poignant invitation to girls everywhere to raise their voices, claim their bodies, follow their hearts, and strive to be their authentic selves.

Proceeds from the May 28th & 29th performances will benefit the Metro Action Committee on Violence against Women and Children (METRAC: Action On Violence).

Acclaimed by The New York Times as "a joyous, girl-powered production", EMOTIONAL CREATURE is a collage of stories - told through monologue, song, and spoken word - exploring the lives of youngwomen around the world. Choreographed by Ayesha Mansur with lighting deslgn by Siobhan Sleath, the production showcases the talents of thirteen young women aged 13-19, including actors making their theatrical debuts.

Tony-Award winning playwright, performer and activist Eve Ensler is the author of the international phenomenon The Vagina Monologues, and founder of V-Day/One Billion Rising, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Her book I Am An EMOTIONAL CREATURE was also the catalyst for

V-Girls, a growing network of young female revolutionaries working to make conditions better for girls worldwide. To date, V-Day/One Billion Rising's grassroots activists have raised well over $100 million for women's shelters and anti-violence initiatives in 180 countries.
