A play about the fascinating life and art of Emily Carr
The Tempest Ladies presents their first ever non-Shakespeare play with Emily's Will, written by Maxine Kern and directed by Joan Kane. Join us for a layered and intriguing perspective on the life of Canada's national artist, Emily Carr.
Follow Emily as she remembers her turbulent yet exquisite path of self-discovery. Emily is a curious and exceptionally talented young woman living in staunch Victorian-era British Columbia. Stifled, she flees to the forest to spend time living with the Native American Kwakiutl tribe, where she unearths herself as both a human being and an artist. This play deals with repressive familial and social relationships and the sacrifices and gains of the artistic process.
