Welcome to Equity in Theatre

Equity in Theatre Toronto Launch

The Toronto Launch of EIT will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2014 as part of Culture Days. If you are in the area, please join us at the foot of Trinity-Bellwood’s Park (north side of Queen Street West between Bathurst and Ossington) at 12:00 noon up until 5:00 pm. We will be promoting women playwrights, raising awareness, and paving new paths for change with a guerilla street action.

Check out the Culture Days event, Paving New Paths: Equity in Theatre (EIT) Launch, here: http://culturedays.ca/en/2014-activities/view/53e0fe33-e0d0-4ea8-8e68-696d4c4a89be

Call for Participation: For this event, we are looking for a handful of playwrights who have written works that deal thematically with issues of marginalization and/or gender inequality. Inspired by Lucia Frangione’s protest action over the closing of the Vancouver Playhouse, the Toronto EIT launch will involve playwrights writing the text of their plays in chalk on the sidewalk in front of a few chosen theatres, accompanied by a team of colleagues who engage with the public and hand-out flyers. If you would like to be involved in this event in any capacity, contact Rebecca (rebecca@playwrightsguild.ca).
